Coinbase Screwed Up, And it’s Bad
Even though they’re making all types of ridiculous attempts to damage control, the shit looks bad. A quick reminder: Coinbase has bought Neutrino – which is connected to the notorious Hacking Team – and the hell broke loose on social media. If you’re not familiar with the Hacking Team, I’m very sorry for you – here, go educate yourself.
So, there was an outcry on social media regarding the fact that Neutrino – via its links to the Hacking Team – is not the best option when it comes to users’ privacy. All crypto enthusiasts (a.k.a. my favorite people) were throwing tantrums and creating all types of hysteria-driven hashtags. An anti-Coinbase campaign was launched, and social media warriors were ready to deal the final blow with their torches.
Alas, the drama didn’t happen. Brian Armstrong, Coinbase’s CEO, has officially announced that the company will “transition out” of the Coinbase those Neutrino employees with links to the Hacking Team. So far, so good, eh? But apparently, no. Crypto community now wants to know the names of those employees and how exactly the transition will happen. In other words, they want BLOOD.
